I've read countless number of threads and web pages to try and fix this problem but still no luck, so seeing if anyone here can help

The problem is that when I connect my 60gb via HDMI or scart it wont output anything. It turns on fine, loads discs etc but nothing is displayed. I've managed to get it to display something twice before (recovery mode and dashboard) but that only happens on a rare occasion of trying..

It seems like a software fault as occasionally will work? No yellow light and the fan kicks in as normal..

    It's a phat 60gb version..

I 'think' the problem is it gets hot after trying to start it too many times.. then just won't output..

I've just left it cooling down next to the window for half a hour and it managed to turn on, but it's in the process of updating but froze half way through installing..

The fans do kick in usually, but don't seem to always kick in? Still stays on green light though when crashes, never had yellow light or anything..

Possibility a clean inside could fix?

If your not getting a ylod your on your way to getting on. Don't use it until you replace your fan at the very least I would open it and clean out all the dust.

I would try using any of the ylod fixes, as your rsx chip(graphics card) could have lost connection with the motherboard. If you still get no video, then the rsx is faulty, and needs to be replaced. But that costs alot, and it's better to just sell it.

Okay so I did the heatgun fix.. it now turns on fine everytime.. but the graphics freeze..

This happens within a few minutes of booting, the console still works fine like the sound and stuff, just the picture freezes..

You might not have done it long enough, or got it all. Make sure to bend the clamps a bit, so they pull the heatsinks more. Or put some washers under the screws, but on the top of the clamps.

I hate to say this, but the dreaded YLOD probably was not your issue. (based on how you described it)

Did you test on other displays before you voided your warranty?

It seems to have fixed the startup issue though.

It wasn't still in warranty anyway, but yeah I did.

No video is caused the same way as ylod, which is why the ylod fix usually works. Just try it again, bend the clips, try washers on them. But like I said, if it doesn't work, faulty rsx chip. Very likely, as you have a 60GB. Electronics usually only last a year of extended use. Hence, the 1 year warranty.
