No dev_bdvd (kmew CFW 3.55)

Hi guys!

I'm having some problems with my disk not being detected. I put in games, movies, but nothing is showing up in the Game menu. I also took a look into multiMan, and there is no dev_bdvd, and no Blu-ray is listed on the GUI, and the same thing in Gaia. I took a look though FTP, only one dev_hdd and couple of dev_flashes are present.

I recently installed kmew's CFW 3.55 on my fat PS3 (CECH04, European), together with the latest multiMan (+ BDEMU-355KM.pkg) and Gaia, and a day after (today, that is) I tried to fix it in Service Mode ("Restore PS3 System" and even updated it back to the original firmware and again installed the custom one, and so on). But no dice.

Is there a way I can check if its a software or hardware problem, or even better, a possible way to fix it? I'm new to this forum, but I hope I'll get to know you all better. Thanks in advance.

Good chance it's just your laser, when you insert a game disk does the small clock on the top right of the screen keep spinning? Sometimes DVD's or CD's will be read fine, just no bluray's.

Dev_bdvd doesn't pop up unless a disk is detected and read, which isn't happening for you so I think it's the laser. Ya can buy a replacement off ebay for like €30 or find a YLOD PS3 and take the BR drive out of that, which should be a better quality laser than buying it alone (they're normally refurbs).
