New HDD forces Firmware Update?

Hey,

it may is a silly question but i read, that after changing the hdd in the PS3 a firmware update is neccessary.

I am on 3.41, so will it accept another 3.41FW from USB Stick or do I have to update to 3.42?

So can i choose a FW equal OR higher than my previous, or must it be a higher versio?

you can use the same version you already had on before upgrading hdd
