Need Your Help - New to PS3 - I have version 3.66 - US make

Hi Guys

i am Anuj, from India ... just got my new PS 3 from US...

from all that i have been reading till now i think i am screwed already!!!

i checked the version on my PS 3 and it says 3.66 -- as far as i understand there is no other option as to buy original games...no modding or anything is possible

Another problem that i found today is that since the ps3 is from US - it has blu ray b and in India we get original games that are blu ray c... i am totally clueless as to what to do now

Can someone tell me how to go about the situation and if there is anything that i can do ?

Well you are literally screwed, you can either change the PS3 for another one in your region. And no, no jailbreak for 3.66 is available, you can either upgrade to 3.72 or buy a new console after giving it back and geting one that fits the region that you are in.

no one will change the PS3 over here... not even the SONY ppl as far as i know...

If i upgrade to 3.72 then do i have any option ?? SHould i just connect to the internet and upgrade the system ??

I went to a sony shop today and the guy told me to either buy the games online - so they will be blu ray b type ... else he said that you can download the games from internet...

I was looking for places where i can download games from but was not able to find any -- any suggestions here ??

Nope you don't have the option of downloading games from the internet. This is what we call piracy over here and it is not supported. Downloading games off of the PSN store would require you to get things known as PSN cards in order to purchase their content and to access the store you would need to be on the latest OFW pushed out by Sony.

Ok so the only options i see is PSN network and buying games from Amazon

So just buying there membership will give me access to all the new games ??? I am not a Online player.. i like playing games as story mades... and not online... also the broadband connections over here do not support online play to that extent...

Can i not get 2nd hand original games...from amazon or ebay?...

i think he actually meant downloading games of the psn and im pretty sure ps3 games are region free its just movies youll struggle with.............................................. .......................................and if the news on another ps3 site is to beleived a 3.72 custom firmware release is iminent??? no point in stopping on 3.66 upgrade to latest 3.73 and enjoy the games and psn and hope fully a new 3.73 cfw in days. if i were you i wouldnt update past 3,73 if sony release anything in light of the latest news

yes.. i am okay paying and downloading... now that i dont have any other choice..!!
actually before getting it from US .. i did read that blu ray disc are country coded... but then that time i thought that blu ray discs are only for movies ... i am finding it out now that the blu ray discs are for games...

i was told by everyone that the games are not country specific ... and can be bought and played from anywhere....

Wont a patch for 3.66 come before 3.73 ?? should i wait and stick to 3.66 then ?

the games will play no ,atter where you buy them from they are not region locked but movies are and IN MY OPINION only their is no point in staying on 3,66 get upto 3.73 and wait their enjoying all the benefits of 3,73 i personally wouldnt go any higher though if and when sony do release an uodate

i am not sure why the guy in Sony shop said the games wont work then... but the game that i saw they do have the blu ray codes on them -- like the one free that i got along wth the console says b - blu ray.. and the guy told me that our country has c - blu ray code...

DO DVD games also come in PS3 ?

ps3 doesn't use dvd's for games just bd-rom because bd's are scratch resistant. There is hope for you to change the region as long as your willing to wait up to a year(for some one to do it and test it), and it will require soildering a chip into it and hexediting the region code info inside the idps twice in the flash.
