    I recently had to replace the motherboard in my CECHA01 and now I have to remarry the bluray drive to it. All I am looking for is a RELIABLE way to downgrade so I can correct the problem. I would prefer to use my PSP to do this but I am unsure of the procedure and what is actually legitimate in regards to what I should download etc. Any advice that will point me in the right direction is greatly appre iated. I would also like to know if buying a service dongle is a better option and if so, which dongle is the best to buy.

    Only way to downgrade for you is with a progskeet.

    So where is the best place to acquire one? Is that gonna require soldering?

    there are other hardware flashers than a progskeet. and i do suggest you DONT get a progskeet 1.2
    if i were you i would look into teensy 2.0 ++, or a progskeet 1.0 or 1.1

    In any case, it requires soldering (unless you get a NAND solderless clip that clips to the NAND with all the wires on it), but shit man good luck finding ANY modchip.

    I say **** the PS3, wait for the x86-y PS4 with a PC CPU and GPU setup, that should be damn easy to hack.

    I see the hack potential for X86 because of the it' long history, but is it really any less secure other than that?

    Well it's not that it's insecure, it's that we all know x86. Even game developers hated working with the CELL/PowerPC architecture the PS3 has but no one else uses.
