OK where do I start? Got a phat 80gb console with bc and broken drive. The connector on the motherboard had no clip so managed to fix that. All this time the console would boot up to xmb with ofw 3.55. Today the drive started making a machine gun noise then shut down now all I get is a 2 second green light, flash yellow and then blinking red. After 5 seconds I can push the power button and get a solid red and turn back on but still shuts off. I`ve heard this could be ylod or a brick. The console doesn`t get much use right now due to the broken blu ray but can`t understand the noise it made and now won`t turn on. I don`t have a dongles to unbrick it that way if it is a brick and if it`s a ylod then its time for the trash I guess. I really hope theres a fix.

    Thanks in advance guys

If you haven't tried to muck with the software, it can't be the 'classic' software or nand brick. Must be locking up due to hardware or as you guessed power issues.

Seems you've taken the console apart once - perhaps you need to have another look - maybe something's come loose or you reassembled incorrectly in some way.

    Good luck.

Just checked and everything seems ok, even took out the drive to make sure and still getting the same. Could it be related to the noise from the drive as when that happened is shut down to what I have now?

Ok from what I can tell it`s a YLOD but not sure if it`s the power supply causing it or the mainboard. Is there anyway to check which is causing it?
