mystery blue ray drive problems
mystery blue ray drive problems –
hi all i got a ylod and fixed it. it had security seal on and it was from a close friend whom i trust 100%
the ps3 had not been opened b4 i got it.
i reflowed (done loads of reflows it went fine) it and it worked i popped a disk in and that worked fine how ever a few days later i tried to play it again and it would not accept disks so i ripped it appart and checked every thing was connected fine, it was. i also made sure the drive was aligned correct, it was.
i assumed the drive was faulty so i swapped it for a known working drive, keeping the same logic board. but with the new drive it had the accept same problem.
i can push the disc in almost all the way and the blue led comes on so it knows their is a disc their but the motors wont kick in and suck it in.
i have taken the drive apart and and manually inserted the disk but the drive does nothing at all no spinning no lasers no motors.
i also tried with a differant logic board (i know they have to be married but even unmarried it will suck disc in just wont read it) and their was no differance.
i have tried a new ribbon cable and power cable but still not work.
i have gone through the recovery menhu options none work
i have re-installed the firmware but that didnt work either.
its a cech03 on firmware 3.73 working fine besides the lasers
also it runs demos from the psn which would indicvate the logic board is matched and working fine anybody got any suggestions as to what to try next
its really doing my head and im totally stumped
i would appreciate any help at all
cheers guys richard
may i also add i have just tried another psu, another hdd and another power/eject switch board to no effect
hi, did you ever get the drive to work?
i have the exact same problem with a 60gb fat that didnt have the ylod, just stopped accepting discs, did all the above n still no luck. !?
its probably the drive board and not the actual drive itself. you will need to either downgrade and remarry a completely new board or swap the chip onto a new board (of the same type)
see there is a ribbon that connects the disc motor to the logic board, and if you used the same logic board with a new drive, then its gonna have the same problems. just for shits and giggles try a different logic board and see if it will accept disc in and spit them out, it wont recognize the disc on the xmb, but it should still suck it in and spit it out. if it does work then theres your problem.
