I got a 20GB model of the PS3, the 60GB seems usless to me since I want to have it wired either way, I have a card reader that works with the PS3, the remote play feature isn't what it could be, and I am planning on upgrading the HDD anyways. ok down to the reviewing
First thing I did was look at the PS3, man it looks NICE, quite heavy though but it has to with all that hardware goodness. I hooked it up (pretty easy of course) and it wanted me to set my settings blah blah blah. I have always liked the XMB since I got my PSP its works great and the PS3 wave looks nice. First thing I did in the menu was update my firmware so I could go to the PSStore. It didn't take long for the update it download maybe 1 minute or so with my 6MB connection. It took maybe 5 mintues for it to update to the PS3 system though.
Once updated I went to make an PSN account to get to the PSStore, let me tell you, you NEED a USB Keyboard like I used to do this or it takes 10 mintues! After that I checked out the PSStore, it looks nice, good discriptions of the demos nice look. You can't do anything while it is downloading but Multi-tasking is going to be added soon I heard. They need to add FULL movies and games to download from the PSStore though.
The controller feels freakishly light, but once you are playing a good game its good makes you feel like your in the game. I didn't really miss the rumble although I know most people did. Now the first game I played was Resistance: Fall of Man, the graphics are amazing and the whole design and whats happending around you, bombs, gunfire all at once makes your fell like your Sgt. Hale. The design of the Chimera is really good, takes aliens and makes you know they want to kill you. Although you might need an HDTV to really enjoy the games/movies.
The PS3 came with Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, when the movie booted up I thought, WOW it looks great if you like everything looking crystal clear. The movie was trash though but thats not the PS3's falt!
So all and all I'd give the PS3 a 8/10, it has a few good launch titles like Resistance and Ridge Racer 7, the PS Store works well but there is some improvements to be made (Multi-tasking, full games and movies), lots of features (music playback, movie playback, games, photos), you might need an HDTV supporting at least 720p/1080i to really enjoy the PS3 though. It looks like it could be another good system with its line up of games such as Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, and Grand Theft Auto IV. Comments are welcome
