My PS3 Broke?
My PS3 Broke? –
I had bought Assassins Creed some time back and it did some weird installing I have never seen games do before, after the game was installed the Blue-Ray stopped working. I have heard that Assassins Creed had issues that broke other PS3 Consoles. Now that I have bought another PS3 the other day I am afraid to install the game on it.
Could this be possible that games can damage hardware with installing their drivers and stuff?

it wont broke your PS3 .if you played without disk its probably corrupted the hdd you rebuild contents again via Safe Mode but sadly you have to format the drive ( if thats the case).
play with disk inserted and you will be find .unless there is another problem .
I cannot imagine any software accidentally breaking hardware, however what it sounds like to me is your blueray was on its way out and installing assassins creed was too big of a job for it to do without dying.
if the game is an original copy i don't think it will harm a functioning ps3, and if one copy kills two ps3's surely there would be a way to get some compensation...
HI. after playing the atax version of assassins creed brotherhood my ps3 just froze. basically i saved the game, exited it and my ps3 just froze. i restarted it and it froze on the xmb again within 4 seconds of booting up. also i tried booting the ps3 without jailbreaking and it still forze. i have tried the above 2 option to restore os or rebuild and still no luck. is there anything else i can do?
I probably won't play the game since #2 is out. Like you said donnabot; "...blueray was on its way out..."
I did do what you said amp2006.
With in my mind reading some stuff about software changing stuff in the PS3 made me think what if and I didn't want to screw up another console so soon
It seems that you want to format your hard drive, and to back up about it, is not your ps3 break and is not compatible with your psn?
I had same issue , i solved it by doing downgrade !!!
