More than 1lens in PS3?
Just got myself a PS3 with rogero 4.40 and multiman. when it arrived I tried and tried to get a game to run from external hdd but alas, no matter what I tried nothing would work. i then turned my attention to the retail disc that I put in, unfortunately it didn't appear that it was being read, so my understanding is that it gathers small info from retail disc which in turn allows you to run the ext. hdd backups? Sorry its a noob statement but first ps3 i have owned so assuming the procedure. I have tried cd cleaner disc and a bluray cleaner disc and occasionally I might get a disc icon appear on xmb ........... What I am trying to get my head around is that if the bluray laser has had it, should it at least "find" a cd or a dvd movie? I have read that there are 2 lasers in the ps3 - one for bluray and one for cd+ dvd's
Person I bought it from is sending me a replacement drive with a new lens in it, do you guys think this should cure my problem(s)
Thanks or reading:chinscrat
if the new drive works, it should help fix your problem. the slims and the "newer" fats have 1 laser mechanism with two laser lenses (one for blurary and one for dvd/cd).
In the meantime, I would recommend installing the most recent version of multiman (4.40 base, you can find the article on our front page) as it has great discless compatibility.
Thank you for your reply (seriously need this forum) I am very new to the PS3 scene, I am gradually getting the idea of how Rogero and multiman is supposed to work but with a faulty laser I am yet to benefit from anything yet.....
