PS3's VMC are signed (like PS3 saves or exported saves to *.psv) or they just raw 1:1 mc image?
I cannot check it myself, so that's why I ask. ;]

Not sure, there Is a VMC extractor out there though.
I couldnt find a tool to pack them back into VMC files though (i put them on a usb stick then transfered them to a real memory card using action replay on my ps2 then used the MC adaptor to transfer them onto my ps3)
Thx for Your answer but my question Was: they are signed or not (raw image or image+sig+meta). I don't need any tools for this.![]()
All memory card images are not signed. All are 1:1 mc images (both PSX and PS2) so everyone could i.e import mc image from i.e ePSXe, place it in "dev_hdd0/savedata/vmc/" and name it *.vm1 or *.vm2 (depend on memory card image - for PSX is *.**1, for PS2 is *.**2). Last step is rebuilding database from recovery and PS3 write all save's and of course cards images to her indexes.
Thanks Szczuru for testing.
PS: I don't understand why no one checked this before. This method completly eliminate PS3 BC+SM+uLE and/or MC Adaptor which both are impossible to buy in these days. Why everyone asking only and always about backups, online, psn? Just my 3 cents... ;P
Sorry I'm late to this thread (I was away this weekend), but I had already looked into this.
The image is indeed a 1:1. I just got my Memory Card Adapter (PS2 MC-> USB) from ***********... I haven't played with it (not sure when I will get a chance).
Originally, I was going to look at putting FreeMcBoot image and playing with that, but it looks as though that hole was tidied up by Sony in the PS2 emulator - though replacing the BIOS image used might yield some interesting results.

I will be very surprised if Sony not turn off OSD Update just like they did in 2.30 (PS2 fw of course ;]).
