Looking to buy new portable disk to use with my hacked ps3 –
My disk started failing and finally died with all my games inside it
So now I'm in a total rush to buy a new one and have it ready by tomorrow evening with all the games me and my buddies usually play...
I know that certain new models of Western Digital disks are not functioning with PS3, in some places I read that PS3 can't provide enough power to the drive and in some other place I read that they can not be formatted to FAT32.
Do you have any recommendation as to which disk I should buy?
I'm looking for a 2.5 inch Disk, at least 320GB, with generic USB port, no external power, if you have any recommendations, please feel free to share them.
Thanks in advance!
I have no problem running my 2tb WD external, allthough it is EXTERNALLY POWERED. I do have a WD 750gb, that works fine. Also the 500gb WD works as well. The 500gb and 750gb are portable, with no external power. I believe they are all elements types. You can also get up to 1tb portablbe, I believe.
My recommendation is to purchase two. One for you backups. And one to backup your backups, just in case! The second one can be externally power, because most likely will be hooked up to your PC. Also, the second one will not need to be FAT32 format, as you would just keep it for archivial purpose anyways, why limit yourself to file size?
I totally agree, I've had two die on me, 1xSeagate and 1xWD. The seagates encloser it came in got badly damaged which wasn't to big a problem, just used some old cables to transfer to my new WD via pc. Then the WD just stopped working(luckely I still had the f'd up seagate). I've now had 2xseagate goflex for a while now and couldn't be happier, I also just got a WD internal. But for an external I definatelly recommend Seagate goflex, they're great quality, mine are 1 and 2 years old and not one problem.
