Hi there

This is a theory for those of us which don't have jailbroken ps3s, but may have some merit also for those that do.

I was just thinking if there was some way in which to make a full game be installed on the ps3 without requiring a disc or even a jailbreak. I am sort of talking about PSN downloads but if there could be some way to make a pkg in the same way.

For example, those that got the welcome back package in 2011 will remember getting the free games. I got Little Big Planet and Dead Nation as was available in my area.
Now I was wondering if there was some way to make a downloaded game from a torrent site or wherever into the same sort of pkg file.
This would pretty much (in my opinion) remove the need for the PSN spoofers and the game managers available.

I would probably guess to make this feasible would be to have downloaded a game, such as with the welcome back package, in order to find if the pkg is especially signed for your account or not.


Please feel free to comment about this below, yes there are probably flaws in this theory but it is just to get people thinking about it.

I think I know what you mean, making the PS3 download from somewhere other than PS Store, right? The problem is that there was a (limited) way of doing that not long before the PS jailbreak came out by using a proxy but I'm pretty sure that you couldn't run whatever it was and it was quickly patched before much came of it. And there have been dev's like Kakaroto who have managed to get un-official pkg's onto the latest OFW but they still cant run it as far as we know. Lastly anything you would want to install either paid for or "Welcome Back" games needs an activation file tied to your PSN ID.

Sorry mate it's a good idea but Sony patched that method a while ago

Yes, okay I may not have explained it all that well. You know how demos are installed so easily as well as game addons. I know that demos are not activated to your profile so if there was some way to make a full game install like a demo.

Ill have a go at making it, but would like a bit of outside help.

Okay I have been looking into this with some depth, there are many PS3 games available on the PS store like BF3 and Motorstorm Apocalypse and so forth, so I have taken it upon myself to download one of these games and before I install it, I will be transferring the data to my external hard drive to get a better look at it.

I have looked at several other threads and have established that Kakaroto has tried something similar but Sony patched his method. His method is a little more different than I am proposing though.

So if we can make the same sort of file that Sony does by using some sort of program(will need lots of help with creating this) then we can make a download page that can install straight to the PS3. The only real problem I see is that you need activation from your account. But there must be a way around that right?
