Just got a PS3 with 3.40, How do I safely update it to 3.41?

If i run the update directly from ps3, it might do it to 3.55 which I do not want. How do i update it to 3.41? Thanks in advance for any help.

Download it from somewhere safe, somehere that you would find with say ps3 hacks in google. (for example, I found a copy of it by doing that, but I didnt use the verifier (below) to check it.

use a USB stick to update the PS3

I would assume you can just grab the 3.41 update from here: PS3 Downloads - PS3 Firmware Updates throw it on a usb stick and update through the XMB.

I believe that's right.
