internal HD upgrade question....

have a PS3 3.41 with a 100GB internal drive.

want to upgrade to a larger 500GB internal, but keep 3.41 and a few downloaded games from PSN, game saves etc.

ok, so if i use the PS3 backup facility to an ext drive, will it copy over 3.41 too, or would i have to upgrade to a newer version when i insert the new internal drive?

it'll stay at 3.41, i did the same thing 1 week ago.

It'll work, just make sure you have a 3.41 updater in case though. The non-60/80GB systems all store firmware on the HD so you need to reinstall when switching out HD's...

Sorry if you format your HDD you loose the FW update ?

No what he means is when you switch the hdd for a new one it comes up saying please insert a usb stick with 3.41 or higher (If you are currently on 3.41)
So some of the firmware data is installed on hdd but there is something on the ps3 which makes sure you do not go any lower than the current firmware you were on.
