    Hello Guys,

I just FTP'ed a mp4 movie to the video folder into the PS3 internal HDD. But the video doesn't appear in the XMB.

And it won't either. The PS3 treats video/audio files much like the original iPods did. When you copy a video/audio file off of a thumb drive/HDD to your PS3 it randomly names it a 5 character name and then creates an .xml file w/ the same name that holds the details. Unless the PS3 generates this info, your file will never be viewable.

    Thanks.

Unfortunately it is a large file, now will have to split the video

Use txMuxer to demux the file. Then, convert it to AVCHD format with tsMuxer. Transfer to internal HDD. Use MultiMAN to activate the file from XMB.

You need a USB drive connected to the PS3 so MultiMAN can mount it to XMB for playing. This isn't an easy way of playing these files but it's at least an option. If you need more help check out MultiMAN thread.

Thanks for the info, already started splitting the video with FFmpeg so will try with another vid.

You don't need to split it, just use ps3mediaserver to stream it and save it from the xmb.
