How to power fan from different 12v 1.75a source? Need a pros help.
How to power fan from different 12v 1.75a source? Need a pros help. –
Tryed with 12v 800ma power adapter. Not working.
1. Where can I tie into for the fan.
Fan is 12v and 1.75a.
2. Is there any points on mobo to tie into.
A good fan is not working and tryed 3.3v to grey wire from psu.
The board is giving out 11.5v. Amps unknown. Probally not enought amps or is 11.5 not enought volts and I need 12v?
3. IS this a motherboard issue or psu?
psu tested fine with volts on the white cable out. didn't test prongs but system works.
4. Should I go into the 12v prongs from psu and step the amps down with a resistor? IF so what one.
Or is that a bad idea?
PS3 seems to run fine without fan working for 5 minutes then I turn it off.
It's not good to let it get that hot, shuts off around 90C.
The 12V pin under the PSU is the main 12V, good easy source. 12V is the pin toward the front side.
You do not need resistors, fan will only draw what it needs.
If your grey pulse signal does not work, my Fan booster chip will provide pulse at any speed you want.
Fan mod all your consoles! PS3 Fan Booster!
my grey pulse is giving .6v - Heard it needs 2.6 - 3.3v. But its not JUST the pulse because I hardwired it to the 3.3v off the PSU already to try that. Will need your chip if I don't want a rocket ship fan.
it seems coffee or wiski or a combo of both were spilled into this console.
Looks like coffee might of got only in the fan and have caused this.
say if that happened maybe its just a fuse on the mobo or fryed chip.
its a cechg01
Ok, that was a bad idea. Heard a pop. Got a blown resistor or fuse or something. the biggest one bottom left of fan socket that goes to the brown wire. Maybe it was messed up before this.
I jumped the original fan wires after reading stuff. Maybe that was bad.
I now have two fans that don't work.
I might of messed the good fan up trying to test with a power adapter before all this.
Now is there anything i can do to fix fan that was good before?
