How i fixed my ylod –
Hi ya all
I thought I would post how i fixed my ylod
I brought a faulty ps3 off eBay to get in the JB scene.
So I did the heat gun fix. it only worked for 4 days oh crap...
The next fix I used no clean flux with the heat gun fix and the fan mod, same as on these pages. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U70SgRDVcBo]YouTube - ps3 ylod fix part1 gilksy[/ame] & How to Overclock your fan - AfterDawn: Forums Ylod in 4 days again oh crap...
So I thought I would trade it in,so I gave it a quick heat gun fix again to get working.I only got offered $90.00 for it, *u*k that ill keep it
The quick fix I did ealer that day wasn't going to last, so I thought I would try some new idea's.
So I fluxed the ram on the back as I did in the other fixes, same as gilksy fix.then when I did the other side, I flooded under rsx and cpu with a good amount of flux and then held the board upside down and rocked it around to make sure the flux had flowed on the chips bga connections, then I fluxed under The ram and any chip with BGA connections. then using the heat gun on 450c I gave it about 30 second on rsx and the same on cpu and 10 seconds on the other BGA chips and then moved the heat Gun around the board about 5" above the board for 10 seconds to even out the heat.
Then I was thinking what else could be casing the ylod, I knew it wasn't heat under the board Because nothing but cold air came out with the fan mod. when looking at the top where the Power supply goes I couldn't imagine much air flowing there so I took the power supply out and extend the wires and put a fan in it's place as seen in my photos
so far it's lasted 2 weeks way longer then before,if it keeps working for a
few weeks longer, I will tidy it up and post a tutorial if anyone interested

Yes, please do post a tut. Thx
it's not really very readable when we have to pan around the screen because your images are huge. why didn't you resize them?
why is the power supply not earthed...?? gotta do that to be safe, you're asking for trouble otherwise...

You are an idiot, sorry.
That power supply was faulty from the factory. It overheats without the top cover of the PS3 on it providing a "heat shield"
Your little setup like that would guarantee the PSU would fail within days.
Sorry, your the idiot,oh why did the reflows work then, if it was the power supply.I had left ps3 off for hours,100% not the power supply, the power supply may have got hot in the ps3 and something temporary failed in the pw supply which may have cause something on the motherboard to *uck up,that's maybe why reflow works.I doubt it was that though.not much air flows though the top of the ps3,causing the top of the motherboard to over heat, and I have a fan blowing on the external power supply and it still get quite warm, it would have got so hot in the ps3 transferring all that heat on to the motherboard causing it to fail,oh and I have the top cover on my ps3 all the time. it has lasted 12 day longer then it ever has with this setup, with heavy use and hotter days.you sir make no sense at all
