How do I restore dev_flash3 if I have a copy of it?
How do I restore dev_flash3 if I have a copy of it? –
So I'm running a 3.55 Kmeaw CFW firmware on a originally 80 gig CECHE01 model ps3. (Metal Gear Solid version with ps3 compatiblitly now 500gig).
So everything seems to be working great I followed the update instructions listed on this site. But, my blu ray player doesn't work so I can't watch movie.
I did a few searches here and found someone that uploaded the a dev_flash3 that seems to have the same system I have.
How do I restore these files?

Still need some help here.
Install Comgenie's File Manager and copy them to DEV_Flash3, ya might have to press select to enter advanced mode (background turns from blue to red) to give you access rights.
I haven't bothered with this since I've no lasers, but it didn't seem to be 100% using someone else's backup. There's a new method to restore BR playback if you read the monster thread in "Latest News", but there's no harm in trying this method first.
If there's anything in Dev_Flash 2 or 3, make a copy before over-writing because it's not easy to get those files again.
Thanks for the reply I'm going to try that now. I got desperate the other day and tried to just ftp into the same directory. Most file's didn't transfer successfully but some did.
So, it might be to late for a backup.
As for the monster thread I have started to read it, but don't quite understand what to do. I have only watched two retail blu ray movies on my ps3. The Dark Knight, and Dawn of The Dead (1978). I'm going to try the method you mentioned first.
Damn, it didn't work. I put in the Dark Knight blu ray and it flashed and I thought it was going to play....but I now get the "Playback of BDs is prohibited on this system. Contact technical support for assistance", message.
The strange thing is that I never technically downgraded my firmware. I changed it from 3.41 to 3.55 wutang, official, and now to kemeaw. But never downgraded
Looks like I got it working. All is ok now
