How can I unsync a PS3 controller from my PS3?
So my room mate has a PS3 controller that he uses for some online game on the PC, but since that controller was used on my PS3 before, everytime he turns that controller on my PS3 will turn on as well... even if he is on the other side of the apartment. Is there anyway I can unsync that so i don't have to come home to a hot room cuz my ps3 was on all day?

When you leave, you could turn off the PS3's power supply by hitting the switch at the back. Not an ideal solution, but it will prevent it from being turned on.

As BadBoyz80 stated, you will need to push the small reset pin on the backside of the controller. However, if they will be using this as a gaming controller for a Windows-based PC game, he will need to download the correct usblib drivers in order for the PS3 controller to be recognized. Once the PS3 controller is sync'd with the computer, it should no longer "call out" to your PS3 and try to turn it on. Re-sync'ing your PS3 controller with your PS3 is as easy as plugging the charge cable back into your controller, pressing the reset button, and then pressing your PS3 button (on the controller). I may mention that the usblib drivers are not the only way to go about sync'ing the controller. There are other programs such as PS3 Tool, PS3Sixaxis, GamePadTrainer, and many others that may help in facilitating this function. However, I will note that PS3Sixaxis is not entirely stable, meaning that it does not always work. I've had a few problems with it to say the least. But, when all else fails...something is better than nothing.

Absolutely. I knew I was missing something from that list. And getting both versions of the DS3 Tool (I spelled that wrong before, thanks for the correction RandQalan), would better help recognize your PS3 controller. As RandQalan stated, and I forgot to mention, sometimes the online version creates certain checksums that are not always compatible with your Windows drivers, thus crashing the program entirely.
