So, I purchased a second ps3 to play games online, and when downloading video I get the message to deactivate video on my old system.

The problem is my old system is jailbroken on 3.55 and can't sign in to the psn. (Not that I'm aware of).

Is there anyway to deactivate the video of this system?

Call Sony and tell them that the Ethernet port is malfunctioning and you don't have WiFi.. and simply tell them that you recently just purchased a new ps3 and you want to get video and/or game activation cleared.. i know sony can do it because, i have like 5 lasers crap out in less than a year, and constantly sent then in under warranty without deactivating the ps3 1st.. and after the fifth time i couldn't even get games to activate, so i called them up and just asked them to deactivate every system that was activated, and sure enough they cleared them.. give the evil crabs a ring they will get you right.

I was hoping not to call Sony, a little Leary that they might do something to my ps3.

Is there any reason I should not call? Or am I just being paranoid?

What do they care? Just call them. Don't say anything about it being jailbroken, obviously.

I dont get it. How how would S**Y still know that you own the 1st PS3 if you decided to ring them? For all they know your 1st PS3 got pinched or broken and you decided to buy a new replacement 1. Givem a call and tell them the problem with your replacement PS3

I doubt Sony will clear it for you unless you've sent 4+ consoles in for service already.

They give you 5 activations to avoid having to do this. What happened to your other 4?

Sony's customer support is actually very nice and helpful when it comes to things like this, they'll deactivate everything and let you start with 0 activations used. I've had to do it a couple of times. Just call them, they'll do it. If the person you talk to says they won't. Hang up and call again.
