HELP! PS3 problem, don't think it's YLOD –
I have a PS3 which when I switch it on at the mains bleeps three times and gives a flashing red light without pressing the power button on the front. The eject and power buttons do nothing it just keeps flashing. It has happened in the past but tended to go away after a day but now it is perminant. I have tried a new power supply and also done a re-flow but this hasn't cured the problem. I have had a good look round but can't find anyone else who has had the same problem. Any help in curing this problem would be much appreciated.
I have a PS3 with the same problem. I'd really love to know what's causing it and how to fix it.
What models of PS3 are these? CECHA? CECHB? CECHE? CECHG?
Have you try running the system with just power-supply and mainboard, that is remove the HDD drive, blu-ray drive, wireless board?
If the system is open, does the fan move? -- What happens if you unplug the fan? -- Also if older model, try unplugging the battery?
Hi Gary thanks for the reply.
My model number is CECHC03. I have tried disconnecting every thing and just having the power supply and motherboard connected but still the same, have even tried it with the other power supply. The fan doesn't move when it's connected and disconnecting the battery does nothing. Get the feeling the motherboard is dead and there's nothing I can do. Is it worth doing another re-flow with some flux?
You didnt have yellow light before flashing red?
My guess itīs not a proper reflow.
