Help with ps3 HDMI output
Help with ps3 HDMI output –
Hello all, the problem I am having is when I plug in my HDMI cable and try to switch it to HDMI I just get a black screen. I have tried to do the video reset where you hold down the power button for 5 seconds or so but to no avail. However when I have my HDMI cable plugged in and I try to switch the sound settings from composite to HDMI it gives me this error, A connection error with the HDMI device has occurred. Check that the HDMI device is connected correctly and is turned on. I have not had a power surge of any kind either. It was working one night, then turned it off went to bed woke up the next morning and the HDMI wouldn't work only composite. Is there any way that something on the board may have fried or is it something else? Any help is greatly appreciated.
have you tried another HDMI cable or with another PS3 ? just for test .
Yes I have tried 3 different cables. I have tried 2 different Tv's other then mine. I haven't tried another ps3 as I don't have another one I could try. But they all give me the same results with the connection error.
well you could try to reset the setting to default with a HDMI cable connected after it restarted and see if its gunna detect or not .
That's the thing it doesn't detect the HDMI cable. When I first hooked it up with HDMI I went to Display settings and it highlighted the HDMI then I selected the HDMI option and it worked fine now it only detects the composite cables.
Sorry for double posting, but I am going to try the Restore file system option in Recovery mode. I will post results. Tried the Restore file system option and still no dice.
instead of choosing automatic, choose custom and test each output with square (480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p) if none works maybe your HDMI port died.
i think he cannot since he is getting black screen .
