Help please - any idea ?
Help please - any idea ? –
I hava an old 40GB phat PS3 here (CECHE01).
I have a little problem trying to repair it so I have decided to give it a try here. Any idea ?
The PS3 had the broken motherboard clip problem. I fixed it with the homemade usual way (tape). That part is good.
The PS3 also had problem loading any disc so I changed the blu ray lens.
Now, the PS3 works great and see all discs (cd, dvd, blu ray, games...) inserted in the XMB, BUT, when I try to start movies or games, black screen.
As I heard, cds are spinning in the drive (and it makes sense 'cause the ps3 can show the cd/dvd/blu ray title in the menu) , but no display on the screen, just black screen. I can eject the cds but the screen stays black and I must restart the PS3 to go back to the menu.
I'm sure the new blu ray lens because I have tested it in another PS3 and it works great.
Where is the problem :O ? Any ideas ?
Thanks a loooott ^^
the blu ray drives logic board could be faulty, download a demo of psn and see of that works or black screens, if it black screens then its the logic board thats gone. if your on 3.55 then its not a major job to replace, if your on 3.56+ you will need either a hard ware flasher to downgrade and re-pair a new board or another much harder way but cheeper you could try and take the chip of your logic board and place it on another.
Ok, thanks for the suggestion. I'll try to download a demo from PSN and let you know if that work. I'm unfortunately on OFW 4.11 on this one...
I should have think to that:
I must have the last OFW to connect to PSN to download a demo. BUT, when I do update, I have the 8002F147 error. This error code appears when the blu ray drive is not detected/working well. Is it normal to have this error if my drive logic board is faulty ?
The update to the last OFW is done. I did it by using another blu ray drive to pass the 8002F147 step...
But, is it normal that the blu ray drive I have swap in my 40GB ps3 (CECHE01) is not detected in the XMB ? I know that this drive works, but its not the same model (I took it from another PS3 CECHH01). I know that CECHH01 use another type of blu ray drive (drive board BMD-004 instead of BMD-001).
To sum up, my question is: Is a blu ray drive from a CECHH01 supposed to work in a CECHE01 console ?
thx in advance
yeah 8002f147 is usually the logic board.... you can however find someone who can swap out the chips from your old malfunctioning logic board, to a new one.
if you swap out the bd logic board, it will need to be /paired/ to the motherboard. without pairing it (or remarrying as alot of people say) it will function like it should but wont recognize any discs.

He did'nt want to play anything before the update and when it was paired. It is now un-paired and play movies (except blu ray)... I don't understand! lol
To sum up, is it possible that by updating to the last OFW with another blu ray player drive hooked up to my PS3 to bypass logicboard update error, I 'unpaired' my original blu-ray drive ? Now, instead of a black screen, I have the error 'unauthorized to play blu ray on this system' with my original blu ray drive. But, I can now play DVDs (but not games). What the hell happened ? Even if I change the logic board of my original broken blu ray drive and I swap the security chip, I will be stuck 'cause even my original logic board seems to be no longer 'authorized' !!! Help!
