I've been reading the forums about installing Geohot's CFW but I keep getting a corrupted data message!

I have a 60gb PAL NZ console on OFW 3.55, I downloaded the CFW and put it on the root of a Cruzer Micro 2gb flash drive, in a folder PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDATE.PUP!

I went into the recovery menu and selected option 6, which is the system update function, hit enter, and select and start together, it then up with this file is corrupted ((800 something) sorry I'm at work and forgot to write it down)!

I was thinking that maybe Geohots firmware is Region based (being that he's American)? If this is the case then what line of text needs to be changed so it will work in my Region? If not has anyone got any ideas why this isn't working for me?

Love the site and thanks for any help with this!

Edit: So I think I got this working, I put a 355.PUP in the root as well like you have to do for a PSP, how can I tell if I've done it properly? When I go into System Settings it still says FW 3.55, the only thing thats happened to my XMB is the TV icons gone!

If all else fails, go to recovery mode and flash official 3.55 and start all over.

Okay, so I got home and listened to all the suggestions from this morning!

I double checked the file, PS3UPDAT.PUP, and it was labelled that to start with, so I formatted the hard drive and started again!

Now I'm just getting "no applicable update available", I tryed from the XMB and recovery menu!

Any ideas? Is the file region based?
