General repair questions
I am interested in learning more about repairing the ps3, so I request general diagnosis information.
To start off the information I am most interested in a diagnosing blue-ray drive problems.
Such as if it has a certain symptom whats the likely cause.
For example the disk is not spinning and the lens is making noises and moving up and down... (if I'm correct this mean most likely the lens is fully dead and needs to be replaced)
Basically what I'm looking for is info on how to figure out what is wrong with your console.
Also I'm pretty dam good with a soldering iron so if I could get some info on replacing the actual laser diode, I would also be interested in that.
if noboady wants to wright out everything that can go wrong, I am most interested in the laser diode replacement part.
Most of the info of what can go wrong, I have made already in many of the different ps3 postings when answering people's questions.

As for laser diode replacement, i have not try that myself, so no help on that, except you can get the 5pin diodes at a good price if you buy bulk, like 5,000 units for around $7 each, if you not buying in bulk, it is not worth it as PS3 factory charges like $23 to do a rebuild on a laser assembly, so I have not had the spare cash to get into the business myself, maybe if I win the lottery, but then I won't for sure be wasting my time fixing crappy PS3's, my god they are getting worse then the 360 now!
Thank for your reply, always very helpful.
If you felt like going through the effort, I do think if you where to compile your ps3 and maybe 360 repair knolage into one place it would be quite usefull to anyboady out there lookin to fix there shit.
It could also be the motor/laser/lens controller like the BA chip in the PS2 5x00x ,sometimes the drive cabels (long ones in white color ) may do the same problems
