FTPing to PS3 - How to transfer files/folders with exact same name but have different cases? –
I wondering how to transfer files to the PS3 where some folders have the same name but use different case.
For e.g. I have a folder called 'locale' and another called 'LOCALE'.
I've tried FileZilla and FlashFXP but they keep thinking it's just one folder and always asks whether to overwrite its contents.
Does anyone have any solution to this?
FTP is not really a good option to transfer PS3 game files. It's fine for movies or pkg files. Here's why - that multiple case listing for files and folders like you're talking about is pretty common. The PS3's internal hard drive supports it just fine since it's formatted to a SPUFS partition (Linux/Unix/etc). The problem is you're more than likely using a FAT32 or NTFS drive on your PC. Those types don't support multiple files named the same but with a different case
The only way you're going to transfer those games successfully is with multiMAN. It recognizes the proper file names and renames them accordingly while copying. When you copy from internal to external it will rename them to support FAT32. When you copy from your external to internal it will give them the right name so the game will run
Thanks for the reply. It makes sense. So my problem now is that I have the files on my NAS which recognizes the file format (it's not FAT32 nor NTFS).
