Formatting HDD, is there anyway to backup a PSN game?
Formatting HDD, is there anyway to backup a PSN game? –
Is there any way I would be able to back up a PSN game I bought about a year ago? I plan on formatting my HDD and it's the only thing I am worried about losing. I've tried redownloading it while the PSN spoof is working however it requires authentication so I won't be able to redownload it if I format.
Is there a way to back it up using ReActPSN, that doesn't require me to run something every time I want to use it?
And I've tried backing it up to a USB but it doesn't run, it shows up as Unsupported Data where the disk would be, and doesn't run from the /app_home/PS3_GAME.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I am on 3.55 Kmeaw
EDIT EDIT: Would it be possible for me to copy it to my PSP, format my PS3, then copy it back?

You should be able to back it up using ReActPSN to get your activations file and also either finding the direct link on that other forum that does game sharing and downloading it with your PC or you could copy it to your external and rebuild the pkg yourself. That is daunting at first for a lot of people, but if you read everything in the link below and have patience it's easier than it sounds. I would suggest that you make a backup of the game if you plan on attempting to rebuild the pkg yourself and to check that it works without any problems before formatting your hard drive

If you don't mind me asking, what game are you trying to save?
Thank you for the reply, and I have another question, is there any tutorial on using ReActPSN? When I ran it last time it kicked back to the home screen and the version went from 2.2 to 1.1.
And the game in question is Bloody Roar 2. Childhood nostalgia and all...
And also I would like to refrain from creating new users to get Bloody Roar 2 working. Thanks!
There's three ways:
1. Just copy "dev_hdd0/game/<your game>/" to i.e "dev_usb000/".
2. While we have access to PSN (last week before 4.20? ;]) just download it and look for PKG+PSB in "dev_hdd0/vsh/task/<number i.e 00000002>/" (check this on devwiki, I writing path from my memory) and copy it to i.e "dev_usb000/".
3. Look in internet for direct link to package of your game.
Second thing is activation data. Just copy "dev_hdd0/home/<user number>/exdata/" and "dev_flash2/etc/xRegistry.sys".
After format it just restore all above files and rebuild database. On Rebug 3.55.2-6 or 7, PS3 will not deleting act.dat after rebooting. Really handy.
