fixing the file structure on a hdd.
fixing the file structure on a hdd. –
I messed up the boot record on my ps3's HDD by sticking it in my Computer, it was stupid so lets leave it at that. The Recovery menu won't work.
The only thing that was changed was windows adding the mbr so I'm wondering if this method would actually work or not as I am not familiar with hex editors or how encrypted file systems work.
This is where the idea came from.
Initialized PS3 HDD on PC... How do I undo? - PS3 NEWS - PlayStation 3 News
(Copy 1) basically its copying the broken HDD data that I'd like to restore with flexhex or something.
(Copy 2) Formating the HDD in the ps3 and copying that data
(Copy 3) Taking the 2nd copy and making it a MBR the same way the first HDD was broken.
Then I guess, comparing the 2-3 copies with the Hex editor to see were the changes/despondences were made. Copying out that 'good' section of Copy 2 and replacing in into the 1st Copy location.
I'm just looking for thoughts from people who've worked with hex editors and the PS3 to see if this might work.
Whether you have tried it by yourself ?
