firmware downgrade

Is it possible to downgrade the firmware from 3.42 to 3.41 as my wifes son reckons an infectous mod chip(or something like that) will do the job??

And how long(is a piece of string?) might it be before "jailbreak" will work on 3.42 firmware??

The problem is Sony has patched the whole discovered exploit (or rather, disabled it during boot), which means somebody needs to find a new exploit. And we know how long it took the first time...

I have hopes though that the surge of hackers and developers the jailbreak has attracted will lead to a fully compromised system and easy hacking for all. But it could be that nothing newer than 3.41 will bee exploitable for a very long time.
