You tag this topic one more time and I will report you to Gary for an infraction/ban. As of right now you can't put a blu-ray movie on your internal drive. The PS3 acts much like an iPOD and renames the files to something proprietary and creates an .xml file for the info. The only way to put a blu-ray movie onto the internal is via the external, but then you get into that 4gb limit issue. So, unless you split the blu-ray yourself with a movie editing tool so that each part of the movie is under 4gb (file splitters won't work here, you actually need to cut the movie into sections) then there is no way to get a blu-ray onto the console.
On top of that if you do figure out a way to "catalog" blu ray movies on a hard drive you might get 50 movies on a 2tb drive.
A 2tb drive costs 100 bucks on the average. A burner costs around 100 bucks and the discs can be had for less than a buck a piece. You will spend more on hard drives then you will on discs so what you are trying to do is not cost effective.
I have an lg drive, i get quantum discs off of ebay (10 pack for 9 bucks shipped). Dvdfab can be found on the internet. I have yet to burn a coaster with over 40 burns complete.
Next time download rips and just play them via ps3 media server. I guess technically you could mount the .iso and still use ps3 media server to stream it (would need Gigabit Ethernet for sure, even if you used tsMuxer over mencoder).
I'd like to find the man that can tell the difference between a 1080p rip that's around 9GB for a movie as opposed to the original BD. Sure the VBR is a bit lower, but I really can't see the difference, even on a 60" TV from ~8ft.
