File splitting on back up managers

OK this may be an incredibly stupid question but here goes. When a backup rips a game and the manager puts a big file on external HDD and splits the file can you then transfer from the external HDD to the internal and get the files reconstructed?
I've got a 40GB and by the time I've got one or two games on it's full, it would be useful to have a few games on disc I can swap in and out of the internal disc without losing it off the drives altogether.

Yep. If the files are over 4gb when copying to your external, they will automatically be split. When copying back to internal, they will combine back together.

Thanks wasn't sure if that's how it worked and couldn't find an answer. I figure the answer was so obvious no one bothered to point it out.
