Lol. He might be an idiot with a slim that was set to output to HD but was connected to a standard def source. If you can test it with him out of the room, I would go there and try to do the standard hard reset with the two button beeps to reset the video output, might not be anything wrong with it.

agreed or could just be using a faulty hdmi cable

but yeah tbh.. I wouldn't advise buying anything like that unless you could actually test it yourself

LOL yeah your right!! I thought of that. Doing a hard reset. Thing is that hes a seller I find on United Kingdom jobs, cars, property, free classifieds and more - Gumtree.com He lives down the road but I dont think I'd be able to get him out the room because I dont know him lol

He wants £70 for it. Its a gamble but I dont know whether to take it or not?? You think I should?

Also this other bloke I know is selling a phat ps3 for £30. It all turns on but the blu-ray drive dont read disks.

I would buy both! Blu-Ray Drive lasers are easy to swap (provided the controller board on the drive is not from a different system) and the majority of "I hear sound but not video" is user error. Although its not much of a tilt, this is even more likely because its a slim, and so its a much newer system than if it were a fat.

I'm usually not a gambler, and I consider things like the lotto a tax on those bad at math... but this seems like its a gamble in your favor.
Alright! - I can't wait to make a long ass list of all the systems I currently / have ever owned...
    Oh wait, no one cares

I wish I could find cheap consoles like that! For the phat replace the laser, or change drives (same model) but keep the same controller board and you're set.
The slims problems sounds like user error.

Agree completely. I'd definitely risk buying both.

Ok I got the PS3 slim. It all turns on fine but the persons put a 80GB hardrive inside the PS3 slim and took the orignal hardrive out. The orignal hardrive could of been a 120GB, 160GB or a 360GB but it dont matter now

I connected the PS3 using the standard av cable that comes with the PS3.
    I get this menu appearing:

I guess this error above is occured because the orignal hardrive has been taken out?

I've downloaded the ''pup update file'' Tryed to update the PS3 but I get a error code: The data is corrupted (8002F2BF)

    Maybe a broken harddrive?

Swap it with a working one - still the error?
Try to flash a fresh 3.56 after that (but bugfixed version)
