faulty or mis matched?
faulty or mis matched? –

hi all
is their a difinitive way to tell weather the logic board is mismatched or just faulty? because i have bought a ps3 that wont read disks and i have tried 2 other known working drives.
if its faulty how can i tell the differance between faulty and mixed up cos i dont want to desolder the chip and swap it to another board and spoil two logic boards if theirs nothing wrong with it.
the ps3 was on 3.70 so no downgrading and remarry but when i updated to 3.72 it went fine with no error. i have downloaded a demo but that just black screens on
im skint so cant buy the hard ware to downgrade for a while.
i dont mind swapping the chips on the logic board to another but i dont want to do it untill i know for sure it is faulty and not just mismatched.
seriously need help
any ideas

yes i know thats why at the bottom i put dual lasers. what i dont know though is how to differentiate between a faulty logic board or a mis matched logic board.
one thing i will add to my original post is it spins the disks fine, the blue led comes on they eject and the lasers work perfect
but the clock only makes one whole rotation and it will not reconise any disk at all

If the board is mismatched, the clock on the screen shouldn't spin at all AFAIK.
You could also ask the buyer if they tried to replace the drive.

I had one that wasnt missmatched and the icon didnt spin......When I downgraded and purposely put a missmatched board in it, the icon did spin.....it just spinned forever and ever. So im not so sure bro, I think it might have to do with what firmware you have as to if the icon spins when the board is missmatched.
