Failed Laser Deck Installation - Grinding Noise And Drive Will Not Feed discs
I have attempted to replace the KEM-400 laser deck in my ps3 today after it stopped reading discs a few days ago. Now when the console is switched on, a grinding noise is heard and the blue led on the front of the console flashes a few times and then stops. The console appears to function otherwise normally.
The drive will not feed in any discs and I have not attempted to force any into the drive.
Please could somebody advise if they know what I have done wrong and how I could go about repairing it?
I have tried checking the cog alignment as shown in this video: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEN1kk31-zs"]YouTube - PS3 loader alignment[/ame] but it all seems to look present and correct as far as that is concerned.
One question I have though is are those two grey arms on top of the white ones at the front which move the mechanism supposed to be attached to the white ones and control their movement? As they don't seem to on mine and they both seem to move independently of one another.
Apologies if I'm not explaining this very well but if it helps then they are on the detachable part at the front which you need to remove to see the cogs underneath.
I have checked every other part of my drive and it all seems to be as he describes in that video.
Just to be clear, I mean these parts highlighted in blue below:
Any guidance which anybody could offer would be very much appreciated as although I've done PS2, Xbox, and Xbox360 repairs before, this is my first time I've had to work on a PS3 and it does seem to be a particularly fiddly drive to deal with.
