extra hdd to use as external hard drive on ps3

i got a 60 gig seagate sata i want to use as my externalhd, however when i plug it on the usb port, my ps3 cant detect it as an external mass storage device, do i need to format it to another incription? if yes how?

It has to be formatted FAT32

HI ive formated my 600 gig HDD to fat32! multiman can see it but i cannot seclet it ! really Strange any ideas why i cant get my ps3 to see it?

in multiman u can see the backups on the internal hdd. and the allso see a Gamedisk in drive, i plug in the External and its ghosted out as in it apears as a drive but u cannot get to view it via multiman at the bottom of the screen

but i can copy the backups from the internal to external

It should show up as /dev_usb0

driving me mad,, like i said i can Transfer backups from internal ps3 hdd to The External hdd BUT after that How do i get to see them on the External!??

Right. Don't worry about that. Look in the root of your filesystem. You'll see it there. /dev_usb0
