external power for bluray drive
external power for bluray drive –
Hi, I have a ps3 bluray drive that i want to hookup to an external power source. I cannot use the ps3 i have that goes with it because there is a short in the white power connector where the wire goes connects to. I searched around and found out that people have hooked it up to a 9 volt batter for an external power source. I wanted to know how would i go about doing this? If someone could point me into the right direction it would be appreciated.
thanks guys in advance.
do you know which wire is shorted the postive or negative?
if its the positive it should be as easy as snipping the line getting one of those adjustable dc plugs soldering in the positive wire and setting the correct voltage
Well if your talking the power cable itself then the power cable is fine. I tested that with another ps3 and the the bluray drive receives power and performs like it should. Its the bluray power connecrt port itself(sorry I do not know the correct name of it) That is connected to the motherboard itself and which the power cable inserts into that is bad and has a short in it. I see what your saying though. I just want to make sure we are on the same page and we are talking about the same thing here.
yes i was talking about the cable itself
im not sure what you could do with connector itself though unfortunately!
