External Hard Drive Trouble (2TB HGST Touro)
External Hard Drive Trouble (2TB HGST Touro) –
I recently got a 2TB external hard drive (HGST Touro, which is a Western Digital Brand) and have been having issues with it. I also have a 1TB Iomega hard drive that works fine. Both have external power supplies and both are formatted in FAT32 with the same folder structure.
The Iomega drive works fine for playing back movies or backup copies of games in Multiman, but the Touro drive does not work with the PS3 at all. It works fine in a computer, but on PS3, it isn't recognized most of the time. When I can get to navigate the files and click a video to play (in Multiman; XMB shows no content), it shows an error saying that the file or path does not exist.
I have done nothing differently than I have with the Iomega drive, but the Touro one simply is not working for me.
I've searched high and low online for similar issues, but haven't been able to come up with anything.
Does anybody know what might be wrong?
Also, I am running REBUG CFW 4.21.
I´ve heard that some usb 3.0 external hard drives have problems with the 's3. Do you have a 2.0 usb hub to use it on your ps3 and then plug your touro? That was suggested to overcome this problem.
Just change the hdd enclosure...
Believe me it's the easiest/cheapest way..
When I was using my friends phatS3 it recognies my MyBook 2TB Usb3.0 hdd (half Fat32 - half NTFS) but when I bought myself a Slim doesn't recognied this drive at all...
Believe me I have tried everything...
I just tried using a USB hub with no luck. This drive is indeed USB 3.0. I have even tried using a USB 2.0 cable.
I wonder how easy/costly it is to change the enclosure. This does not want to play nicely.
If it's a 2.5" hdd it will cost you a 12-18$, but if it's a 3.5" you can find one from 25-35$...
I have used 2TB WD Usb3.0 and now using 500gb WD with 2.5" Everest Usb3.0 Enclosure...
So, you can use Usb3.0 enclosures too..
