external hard disk not detected.

i have a usb powered 320gb hard drive and its not detected in my ps3

its already formatted in fat32 and i tried plugging the Y-cable in the 2 usb ports and its still not detected.

please help.

some usb powered hard drives require the 2 cable usb one is for power the other is power+data.hope that helps

Delete the partition, re-create it anew (Administrative Tools), format with fat32format utility.

I have the same error as you... look in my thread

But I just found out that when I put a disc in drive that the hard drive will not work/recognised. When I eject the disc from the drive the HDD functions normally. With Hermes 4B it works flawlessly for me but with PL3 I get the HDD/disc error.
