Penguin United Mouse Keyboard Eagle Eye Converter Playstation 3 PS3 Controller

Has anyone used one of these? It's basically a converter that lets you play any ps3 game with a regular mouse and keyboard setup. You can define your keyboard to whatever key-set you want to use. I'm a little skeptical about how well it would actually works, but most reviews I've found seem to be positive.

I've been a strictly PC gamer until the last two years, but haven't played any fps games on my ps3 because I'm just not competent enough with the controller. I only play single player (obviously with a jailbroken console), but I can see how it may give a unfair advantage if you were playing online with the adapter.

Cool, I didn't know these were available yet... I saw a pre-release page a month or so ago and completely forgot about them. I'm definitely going to pick one of these up...

The mouse is a 1:1 map to the right control stick, so you need to put the speed/sensitivity up to the max. I tested on Infamous, which has a pretty slow camera, even on its highest setting, so it wasn't that great, but it should be good for something like The Orange Box or COD or some other FPS.

If you're a PC gamer like me, this is well worth the money.

if you guys looking for a good kb and mouse option for the ps3 i would go to XIM360.com | Xbox Input Machine.

the xim1 peripherial connects to the ps3 via a ps2-to-usb adapter and to your pc thru usb, your pc then uses a program to map whatever keys you need to the xim1 with a very high level of customazation (dual sensitivites for cod hip fire and aim down sights, multiple actions per button: right click = aim down sights and toggle secondary sensitivity, etc).

the xim2 is a modded wired xbox360 that connects to the xbox or ps3 thru a crossbattle adapter, and to the pc thru an additional usb cord. it functions much like the xim, eg. requires a pc, similar software, few more customization option.

the upcoming xim3 will be pc-less solution, has 3 type-a usb ports, 1 for a wired xbox360 controller(required) and 2 for whatever peripherial will be supported, so far the logitech g13 gaming keyboard, most standard KBs and most mices(up to 7 buttons i think) will be supported. it also has a type-b usb port which connects to the 360, or ps3 thru crossbattle adapter. There has been talk about supporting psmove navi controller for movement and mouse for aim. this device will have built in software and an lcd screen to customize settings and key mapping on the fly, as well as "smart translators" for mouse > reticule movement, watching the demo vids can explain the level of accuracy this brings.

i have been following the xim for quite a while, 2 yrs, even built my own xim1 using the creator's tutorials on their forums and blog. its a great device and i will be getting a xim3 when its finally released. by far the best kb+mouse adapter ever. was originally meant to be used with the xbox360 but thru other adapters it will work with the ps3 as well, the software like i said is VERY customizable, so you can use any DPI setting on a mouse and change sensitivity in game, change the ratio of movement on the reticule, dead zone shape and size, etc, etc. honestly im describing the xim very briefly, for more info refer to their site and forum, this is the only kb/mouse adapter i would recommend any pc gamer that wants to get into console fps'. speaking from experience.
