E3 or Progskeet
I've confirmed that my PS3 is downgradeable, It's a Slim CECH-2001A on OFW 4.31. I had jailbroke it before back when it was on 3.55, installed some games, played some online and got a warning email from Sony. That scared me so I restored/formated the PS3 back to factory settings and have since upgraded the FW each time one rolled out. Years later now my PS3's warranty is up and I'm interested in hacking it again.
I have read up somewhat on Progskeet and the E3 Flasher. I have not decided which kit to get and feel that it is a big decision for me to make because I don't have a lot of cash to waste. I'm fine with spending some money on an item I can consider a tool and one that I can use over and over. I see a lot of recommendations for the E3 flasher, but are there any reasons to get the Progskeet instead? It would be a bonus if I was able to use the flasher I bought to downgrade other systems, for friends or as a service later on. Would the E3 be able to be used over and over again? Also it seems like the Progskeet is a lot cheaper, but also harder to use. Soldering doesn't intimidate me I've done a lot of mod chips in the past, how well would the Progskeet hold up over time? the E3? I want to get the best bang for my buck. Also is the Progskeet 1.1 better to use than the 1.2? I'd appreciate any helpful advice anyone can give, or their experiences so that I can gain some knowledge before I set my eyes on which item I want to purchase. Thanks for reading!
edit Can Progskeet also be used to mod 360s in a similar fashion? That would be a bonus too.
Progskeet will work on NOR or NAND firmware chips. So you can use it on a slim or a fat PS3. E3 is limited to NOR, so it can only be used on a slim and I think some fats. Check out this guide: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f263/ult...rading-104398/
