Dongles useless now? –
01-20-2011,05:22 PM
I'm not being impatient or anything like that, I know tons of work is being done on CFW and stuff to do with that. I actually dont use my PS3 that often. Im just curious really.
Now that we have CFW and backup managers that work, is there any point in keeping the dongle and will support for them be stopped now?
Im still on 3.41 but I'm going to update as soon as I figure out the proper steps.
However, it would be nice if there was a fix for dongles to work on 3.55 too. Some people dont want to use CFW.. maybe they are just afraid of bricking, or afraid of sony knowing.
I know my brother never will use it so it would be nice if I went to my brothers house I could just take my dongle over if I wanted. I could jailbreak it and then when I leave his system is back to normal.
Any ideas if work is going to continue or its not worth the trouble for them to figure it out.. or maybe its just not possible with the dongle anymore?

No one wants to spend the time taking the code that sony removed from 3.41 and trying to reimplement it into 3.55. As for the dongle being worthless, they can still be used for service mode (downgrades).
I highly doubt that anyone is going to want to get dongles working in 3.55. You always have the ability to modify eboots and install packages to get games working on 3.55.

My dongles are gonna be "out of service" but my wife might not like it!

you can use most of the "dev"-dongles as ota(c)-dongles ...
login into windows/linux/mac/whatever with the dongle ....
