Determining CechG03 blu-ray drive without opening ps3? –
I’m fairly new to the hardware of the ps3 due to previously only swapping out parts of xboxs’ and wii's anyway I purchased a CECHG03 with a broken disk drive and a 60gb Ps3 with a broken mobo and was able to place the drive in the Cechg03 and swap the bluray board no problems. I have now purchased another CECHG03 and found that it has the newer blu-ray drive (410 with the board on the inside of the drive) and was a bit surprised as I was under the impression that only the newer 40gb consoles and 80gb had the newer revision of drive. Anyway another CECHG03 has become available to me with a blu-ray issue and I was wondering if there is any way to tell if this CECHG03 has a 400 or 410 drive without opening it up (as I need to buy it to open it). I have checked the date code on the CECHG03 I have and its 7d (which I believe is the latter part or 2007). So would I be guaranteed a 410 drive if the console im looking at is 7d or is there any other way to find out the drive?
Any help would be really appreciated
Insert a disk into the drive an older 400 lens type the disk goes straight into the drive a 410 lens type will rotate clockwise as the drive pulls it.
Oh thanks mate I appreciate teh response, presume it would still do that even if the laser was dead? and is there anyway to tell of the s/n on the console or date code as I already know these from the user
