data transfer utility w/3.41 w/out deactivation?

Just bought a new ps3, put 3.41 on it, have 3.41 on my old unit. I want my new unit exactly like my old and then upgrade fw and use as normal (no jb'ing). Everything I've read about the data transfer utility says you need to deactivate the "source" unit before doing this. I can't do this since I'm on FW3.41 and you have to log into psn to deactivate! If I do a transfer will it still work 100% on the new unit and I'll just lose one of my "5 allowable" activation "slots" for psn dlc and whatnot?
