CXD2973GB Chip –
hello, so my friend 20gb ps3 just stop outputting video and audio, i tried to reset video setting, also try to boot up the restore menu, after messing with it for 2 days, he let me open it up, after getting to the motherboard that's where i saw small burnt mark on the corner of the Sony CXD2973GB I/O chip. this is probably why his video and audio is not working anymore..so i wanted to know is there a way to replace the chip or is he out of luck and have to send this in to sony and pay the overprice of $150?
Sadly, I see this dozens of times now.
I only been able to fix one out of the many systems.
And that one I was only able to get the "component" output working.
Normally this is caused mainly by "counterfeit" HDMI cables or cheap crappy ones with non-proper grounding shielding inside.
Sadly, your only good option most likely will be the repair via Sony.
alright, he probably going ebay the ps3 and just pick up the new slim, thanks for the in sight.
