Corrupted HDD. PS3 Wants to Reformat
Corrupted HDD. PS3 Wants to Reformat –
So I was messing with the new OtherOS in REBUG 3.55.1 today and things were going well. I used a USB HDD to install Ubuntu on it. I noticed it would freeze once in a while while booting Ubuntu. So I decided to Rebuild Databases from the recovery menu. My thinking in this was to fix some freezing as this option has helped me before. I do that and it starts to rebuild databases. It gets stuck a 0% for like 10 minutes. Usually this takes only 30 seconds. I unplug the console and plug it back in and go back into recovery to try again. It now gives me an error at Rebuild Databases saying "The hard disk cannot be accessed." Awesome. So I restart and the PS3 tells me that files are corrupted and need to be restored. I click ok and it fails. Now it wants me to reformat. I also tried reinstalling the firmware and no difference. I don't have a backup and I have a lot of things on this drive. Is there a way to get my stuff back without reformatting or plugging it into a PC and reading the data off then formating and putting it back?
Edit: I discovered that I can get into service mode successfully. XMB works but I can't lunch anything. No FTP or backup utility. I get an error. Is there a way I can execute something in service mode like openftp like Geohot did from a Lv2diag.self?
