Converting FULL games to pkg file as PSN games?
Converting FULL games to pkg file as PSN games? –

I just wondering is it possible to convert any full game like black ops with 10 GB data to one pkg file to install directly form install packages like psn games that modified for geohot cfw ?
I am not a developer but I am sure that someone some where well do that and will be huge success with no more backup managers or eboot miss or risk with playing inside ps3 HDD folders.
this idea came to me when I saw WARHAWK psn game 880 MB and after extracting in ps3 became around 1G.
thank you so much and I hope this topic is interesting for ps3 hacks developer.

or hacker make us to avoid this miss by making one pkg file large size but easy to install.
I know maybe there is no tools for prosses yet, but is there any hope?

Having a big .PKG file is a bad way to transfer your games. Firstly since most, if not all, will end up over 4GB you'll have to FTP (or comgenie) them over to get them to show up on the XMB. Using the demo installer method you can get .pkgs to show up like downloaded PSN content do before you install them. However would time spent extracting this big .pkg (as well as the time spent making it) be better than just transferring plain files over FTP or Comgenie from the get go?
I can see one advantage of this method. Many games will loads of little files will transfer over really fast since the PS3 only has to deal with one file. But then I wonder if the time of the install process outweighs that supposed advantage.

but still this method is so easy because it's only one step PLUG and INSTALL I know it will take a time to setup but not larger than coping files via ftp.
I installed warhawk 800 mb in 4 min so 7 GB game 35 min . I think many pp will like this,
or just find the right tools to convert games to pkg and the user pack it by himself.
anyway thank you [c*]

I'm not quite sure what you're suggesting here, but from the sounds of it, you're wanting to install packages as to negate the need for backup manager AND modified eboots. Sadly, you (in most cases) have to have one or the other. Almost all of the packages that began circulating rapidly over the past week are using modified eboots.
Furthermore, due to methods used to get some games to work without backup managers, a PKG could not install all of the data. Unless I'm mistaken, XMB loaded games packages can only install to their game/XXXXYYYYY directories. However, most PKG'd games need data installing to custom folders in the root of HDD0.

this is simple idea if they could make a pkg file with some data they can also make a pkg file with all data of the game. because ps3 extract so we can reverse the prosess by packing it back.
as any psn games
EP9000-NPEA00063_00-EVERYDAYSHOOTERF.pkg everyday shooter 36 MB
EP9000-NPEA00063_00-BFBC2.pkg BFBC2 10 GB
put is in usb hdd == go to install packeges====install it======run it from xmb

You're still missing essential points. Unless you're a week late to this party, people have been repacking games into PKG's for about a week now, due to decryption tools allowing hex-edits to be done on eboots. But the compatibility is low, it requires modification of the eboot.bin (which your first post sought to not have) and in most cases requires installation outside of /game/ directory; something I'm pretty sure PKG's don't have the ability to do. Some games even required after-installation edits of param.sfo and such files.
PKGs were a nice idea, and solved an issue, albeit in a messy and less than universal. But using syscalls and backup managers are MUCH more reliable, even if it's not perfect. I understand you feel it is easier to just download a PKG from torrents or similar, and just drop it onto your USB and install, and have hassle free, 1-click games, but that method requires serious work (someone to reliably perform eboot mods specific to the game, then PKG them up for both 3.41 and 3.55). Also, most games are well over 4GB; you couldn't USB them, you would have to FTP/Demo Manager them to the PS3.
Bottom line; if you're in a position where you have the skill to install Geohot's CFW and FTP PKGs, then you're also in a position where you can install Kmaew's CFW and GAIA, and simply pop your original games in the drive and click "copy" or just move your game from PC by FTP/USB.

first of all thank you atkinchris for your reply and now I understand how complex is this.
and yes I installed kmaew's cfw and gaia 2.1 but only black screen and regero with lv2.pkg only black screen and multiman with lv2-v2 but the same.
so I suggest this method in case anyone have experience with ps3 system try it.
