CECHG01 BluRay Question
CECHG01 BluRay Question –
05-28-2012,09:34 PM
Hey everyone,
I have a quick question.
I bought two PS3s that still had the warranty label intact and all. They are both CECHG01 models. Both of them turn on totally fine. The BluRay drives aren't reading discs or at least that was the stated problem. I have some drives lying around. I know not all drives are compatible with all boards but (sorry I know I should know this) but does the drive have to be from another CECHG01? Because I've tried a couple drives, one I'm pretty sure was working properly (but came out of a CECH-H01) and no success. I tried different ribbon cables checked the gold strips to make sure none were broken but still nothing.
I'm thinking this is a hardware issue? Any advice there?
Thanks in advance.

are you changing the logic board like taking the 1 off the old drive and putting it on the new drive if not then do so. with the original drive does the disc icon spin in the top right corner where the clock is when you insert a disc if not then there is a problem with the logic board try these things and if still no luck reply again with more details and im sure someone can help sort it

logic boards are locked to the console so dont get them mixed up, if the disc however is not spinning, or starts to spin then fails then you have a laser issue. if tho the disc is fully spinning and the correct logic board is installed, then the fault you have is corrupt data, corrupt data can cause the ps3 not to see the disc at menu screen or just display a black screen . if this is the case restore ps3 system and format but note all data will be lost

Thank you very much for your replies.
I hope that it will be as easy as a system restore and format, I'm not worried about data being lost.
If the system restore doesn't work I will try the suggestion by badboyz80.
I will hopefully have sometime tomorrow night to give this a try and will reply with the results.
