cant play demos

Hi, can anybody help me, i brought a cheap PS3 60gb fat but blue-ray drive does not work, i thought i would put cfw on it but it has 3.60 gutted
so i went to psn and downloaded a couple of demos but can't get to play them as i get a black screen does anyone know how i can fix this or do i need to replace the drive

You need to replace the drive. The PS3 goes into protection mode if it can't detect a valid blu-ray drive connected.
