    hey guys

sadly i got my (actually it's my friends, i gave him my 3.42 and took his 3.41 ps3 so i can play, look like i'm not getting it back :\ ) machine red screened yesterday, i tried all the options in the restore menu, tried to re install 3.41 but still nothing work...

i have an ipod nano 1st gen with hermes 4b payload which i use to jailbreak the ps3... is there a way to use it somehow to help me out of this situation?

i don't know to compile & stuff like that but i hope u can help me with that...

i've already downloaded 3.42 fw just in case nothing else work... maybe this will do the trick..

anyway i would like your help with that...
    i don't want to loose my ps3

    nope.

Sadly only Sony can repair the RSOD.

As it is caused by bad block on the nand, and syscon is not remapping the nand correctly.

Their been reports that if you keep accessing the recovery menu, and keep forcing it to rebuild the database, at some point it figures out the bad block and remaps it, but I tried once over 15 times on the same machine, and still it keep RSOD after it completed the rebuild.

so it's def' not possible to effect the NAND with the jailbreak thing?

maybe to force it to restart or undo the last action or something?

i just wanna be sure before i'm trying to upgrade the FW to 3.42 and then if it doesn't work to 3.50...

but then i'll loose the jailbreak capability...

and tnx for the replay... i'll probably try the rebuild thing for like 20 times just in case..

i don't feel like leaving my ps3 for my friend for that :/

been done over and over again by many rsod owners here, that doesn't seem to work but thanks for the suggestion

I believe this is where I am at.

It seems my unit has 128mbits of "nor" flash. This is a bit confusing to me, as the PUPs are usually around 150~170+MBytes in size. Am I missing something there? Is there another flash memory chip on the console for the bulk of the firmware?

Here is a "SUCCESS" log with "nor" boot:

    Code:
